Lezlie Porter, M.A.Ed.
Educator | Advocate | Founder & CEO, The Reading Factory
Lezlie Porter is a lifelong educator with more than 26 years of service in public education and over 30 years working with adolescents and teens. Her career has been devoted to one unwavering purpose: ensuring that young people—especially those with learning differences—receive the education, dignity, and support they deserve.
Lezlie spent the majority of her career as a Special Education teacher and instructional aide in middle and high schools within the Pasadena Unified School District, where she worked closely with students with mild to moderate disabilities. It was in these classrooms that she witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of untreated reading difficulties—and the systemic failure to teach many students how to read explicitly.
These experiences ultimately led her to found The Reading Factory, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children and teens become confident, proficient readers through evidence-based instruction.
